BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha presented a cheque for £10,000 to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) during a special evening assembly on Saturday 23 November 2019 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
The funds were raised during the BAPS Annual 10K Challenge, which brought together more than 3,000 enthusiastic participants from towns and cities across the UK earlier this year for a fun and healthy way to raise money.
This year’s national charity partner was the NSPCC, the UK’s leading charity campaigning and working to protect children from neglect, harm and abuse.
The cheque was presented to Chris Cloke, Head of Child Protection Awareness at the NSPCC, who thanked BAPS for its support around the country in raising funds as well as vital awareness about the plight of children at risk.
Shirley Maginley, Senior Consultant (Faith and Minority Ethnic Communities) at the NSPCC, added: “We are so grateful for the money that BAPS was able to raise to support NSPCC’s work. It will be put to good use! All our staff who attended the various 10K Challenge events around the country this year had a wonderful experience engaging with the volunteers and families that attended. We look forward to continuing our safeguarding work with you in 2020 and building our partnership.”
Prof. Sejal Saglani, a lead volunteer for BAPS, shared, “We are delighted to have partnered with the NSPCC to support their vision of not only protecting children today, but preventing abuse in the future and transforming society for every childhood. This is a vision that we also share. His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj has inspired us to serve and care for each child to in turn create a better world for everyone.”
